The Future is Bright!
As we start the fifth year of our Mateo's Malts journey, we would like to say thank you to our family, friends, and whisky tasting fans that have entrusted us to be your guides. At last count, we have held 40+ single malt whisky and bourbon whiskey tasting events, traveled to the Kentucky bluegrass and the Scottish heather, and met wonderful folks from around the world. We all now know the difference between sherry cask maturation vs. finishing, the differences between single malt whisky and Irish whiskey (with an e), where that vanilla flavor comes from in a whisky, and how much corn is needed to officially make a bourbon mash bill. A big cheers to y'all!
Our coming year is filled with new adventures. We will be working on whisky tasting events that showcase the Highlands & Islands of Scotland, our Islay friends from Ardbeg, Bowmore, Bruichladdich and Distilleries, and some tasty new American whiskies from the Pacific Northwest. Research of course is required for these events, so we are excited to share our analysis and findings. ;-)
We hope y'all have fun during the whisky festival season in Scotland, and win big money at the Derby next month. See you on the whisky and bourbon trails!
